Although the Day of Mourning Celebration will not held this year at Memorial Park, due to COVID-19, Cupe 1908 would like to take the time to remember and to honor the memory of the workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness due to work related instances. These workers, may have been our coworkers, our friends, or our family.
April 28, is also a day to remember that our work place is to be safe. We have the right to say no to unsafe work conditions. We all, members and employers, play a big part in safe working conditions. It is our responsibility to be mindful of our work place, our surroundings and know how to do our job safely. Our goal, everyone’s goal, at the end of the day, is to go home to our families. Please, take this year to remember to work safe. Your family needs you.
On April 28th at 10:30 am, you can join us all at https://www.dayofmourning.bc.ca/ for a celebration to honor our fellow coworkers.
In Solidarity and good health;
Loreen Matousek
Cupe 1908 President.
